Netflix is declining 17 brand-new original movies in March 2019, and that’s not even counting the dozens of other brand-new proves and licensed titles that will land on the service over the course of the month. It’s almost too much to keep track of. While the majority of the members of those Netflix Originals are international names, there are some major new releases you should know about. Here are all of the new movies on Netflix you should know about, including a few you can already watch this weekend.
New movies to watch on Netflix in March 2019
High Flying Bird tells the story of a athletics agent caught in the crosshairs of an NBA lockout who tries to end it on his own. A strong script from Moonlight screenwriter Tarell Alvin McCraney and a leading concert from Andre Holland make this potentially insider tale compelling, and the movie takes on the NBA’s long record of exploiting Black athletes in the process. — Michelle Jaworski
Paddleton follows Andy and Michael, two most special friend who must grapple with Michael’s diagnosis of terminal cancer. The two men stick to their routine, which includes watching kung fu movies and playing their made-up game called Paddleton. Mark Duplass and Ray Romano afford terrific concerts in the leading roles, capturing what it means to be a friend, even if their characters have a hard time expressing themselves. Paddleton is a small, intimate movie that’s both funny and sad without ever becoming overly sentimental. — Eddie Strait
